To all our customers,
We hope you are well.
We were pleased by the latest changes to lock down restrictions, succinctly summed up in an article published yesterday on Marine Industry News:
“With the latest round of Government announcements, DEFRA has clarified some of the concerns about whether recreational boating was classed as permissible.
In an update to its website this morning, the Government department says:
“All forms of water sports practiced on open waterways, including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, surfing, paddle-boarding and the use of privately-owned motorised craft (in line with the guidance issued by the relevant navigation authority) are allowed.”
The RYA has also been keen to get boaters back on the water, issuing a very similar statement to the above. Sarah Treseder, RYA Chief Executive, concluded: “…. the boating community may now drive to their destination so long as they observe social distancing.”
We welcome this news and very much looking forward to seeing you again if you decide to visit your boat. We have taken steps to ensure your safety which we hope will give you the confidence to relax and enjoy your time at the marina should you choose to visit. You will see new signs on-site which detail these new measures, for your safety and the safety of our staff please follow them. In addition further information about safe operating measures can be found on our website here and will be added to our business Terms.
Social distancing must be carried out by everyone on site – please bear this in mind when parking and moving around the marina. Please be mindful of others around you when going on to the pontoons, wait for the access bridge to be clear and do not congregate on the pontoons. It should be noted that currently the government does not permit people to leave their homes to ‘stay at another home for a holiday or other purpose’ so we ask that you do not stay on your boat overnight. We will also remain closed to visitors.
A small skeleton staff still remains on site. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to get in touch by phone 01665 712168 or email email@example.com. Our shop remains closed other than for urgent matters and please only ONE person at a time.
Guidelines for communal areas (such as shower blocks) and overall marinas are yet to be released. Without the Government guidance we cannot comply with our legal Health and Safety obligations therefore the shower blocks have to remain closed for now. Once we receive further guidance from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, we will be carrying out further risk assessments, to modify the facilities where needed. We will implement any further changes as quickly as possible. For the safety of everyone, please remain patient and understanding.
The disabled toilet remains open and we have new antibacterial gel dispensers on site. Facilities are being cleaned with disinfectant on a daily basis but please take your own precautions and follow Government advice – wash hands, use antibacterial hand gel and avoid touching your face.
Whilst we very much want to see you out on the water we must advise caution. Please take the time to check on the condition of your boat and equipment. We suggest ‘buddying’ up with another boat if you go to sea, to avoid placing undue burden on the RNLI and other rescue services if a simple breakdown were to occur. Despite the latest changes to restrictions please do consider whether your activity is being carried out in conformance with Government regulations for social distancing and exercise, including on the shore when accessing the water. In addition, if after visiting the marina you begin to feel unwell please try to contact us so that we can alert others.
Please rest assured that if you choose not to visit the marina at this time, or you are unable to do so because you are self isolating, we will continue to take the utmost care to ensure the security and safety of your vessel.
You have been immensely supportive during this lock down. Thank you. Moving forward, please help keep the marina a safe space by following our new guidelines for the well-being of all customers, our staff and the wider community. Whilst this is still not business as usual we are doing everything we can to ensure you can access your boat whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines. Stay safe and well.
