Amble Marina – Improving Shore Based Facilities
2020 saw the introduction of new boat yard services including a Wise hoist crane for mast lifting, new boat cradles and new trolleys.
These new services are part of our five year plan to develop a full service boat yard on site which started with the construction of our dock and installation of our 40 tonne Wise hoist in November 2017.
To facilitate the development we successfully applied to the Northumberland Coast and Lowlands LEADER for funding.
The LEADER programme provides grants to small businesses for projects that create jobs, grow the rural economy and provide essential rural services.
Moving forwards these facilities will create an opportunity for specialist marine contractors to work permanently on site. These specialists will provide a variety of services such as rigging, GRP and mechanics.
We were extremely grateful to all customers who took the time to write letters of support for this development. The overwhelming response clearly demonstrated to LEADER just how important these services are to our coastal community.
About LEADER
LEADER is a community led approach to rural development and is seen by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) as an important way of addressing rural needs.
The funding is being made available through the Rural Development Programme for England, which is jointly funded by Defra and the European Union.
